The Beautiful Hakima – Poem

This is the 10th episode of the Friday Poetry Series. In this ode, I extol a very good friend of mine in whom I find value. And whose beauty, piety, and aura I admire a great deal.

Good Haki… sorry, good morning!
I almost slipped and said good Hakima
Because you are synonymous with morning

The ancient Egyptian god of the sun would have wishes to worship you
because wallaahi you dey be pass.
The person who said that the beautiful ones are not yet born
definitely said it before your birth.
Where were you at when the beholder who beheld you said
“beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.”
I just saw you and he was right.

Are you blushing? I can do better
Just that, the words to describe beauty as you don’t exist
How unfair! I hope you understand pretty?
They weren’t privileged to see beauty as you when the English language was formed.

Hakima, what other language do angels understand,
I want to write you a poem it?
All I can do is to write poems
or I would travel to God to announce to Him that
one of you is enough for all of humanity
But he is all-knowing so I know that he knows.

God the best creator might have created you as one of his best specimens
You are such a display in God’s gallery of art.
How different is your smile from your frowning?
You have to show me that because they look equally beautiful.
Let me end it here, If I were to completely describe your beauty even beauty will envy you.

Listen to the recitation of the poem below:

Poem in honour of Hakima.

Wishing aspirants well in our JCR elections tomorrow

I call on the electoral commission to ensure a seamless election exercise, aspirants to enable peace to reign, and supporters of the various aspirants to accept that this is an election to unite us yet again and not divide us.

Letter to Paradise

The theme of this poem is love. In very simple terms, it extols a woman, her beauty and virtues.
