Poet Abul Himma, known for creating awareness and voicing up on burning societal issues through the art of poetry, has released an awakening spoken word on Covid- 19 entitled Mask Up.

The release of the poem is tacitly occasioned by the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in especially Ghana. The 2021 year started with the recording of more cases per day averaging 600 to 700. Last Sunday, the President has announced some restrictions on mass gatherings to help manage the rise in cases.

In his poem, Abul Himma has painted a gloomy picture of how direr the situation is becoming in Ghana and across the world. He talks about the new trends the pandemic is following from the trends of 2020 that we knew of, and the devastating effects it has on our economy. He fears that if we don’t work together to defeat the disease, parts of the country may have to be on lockdown again.

Corona, he said, is not a joke!
