Silent Voices

Poetry: One voice I learn is one too many, but one silence I learn is one too loud.

I learn in the midst of injustice,

speaking up is all but a choice.

I learn when crime points to a human as an accomplice,

calling them out is not a prejudice.

Many times humans see the rise of societal menace,

many times we watch them crush us in silence.

Who’ll spark our long subdued voices?

Who’ll fight to defeat our wanton cowardice?

One voice I learn is one too many,

but one silence I learn in one too loud.

One voice I learn is one too courageous,

but one silence I learn is one too feeble.

Society has advanced for the voices it heard.

But for the voices unheard,

society would be twice as advanced.

Wishing aspirants well in our JCR elections tomorrow

I call on the electoral commission to ensure a seamless election exercise, aspirants to enable peace to reign, and supporters of the various aspirants to accept that this is an election to unite us yet again and not divide us.

Letter to Paradise

The theme of this poem is love. In very simple terms, it extols a woman, her beauty and virtues.
