Shall We Grow Together? – Poetry Recital

This is the 11th edition of my Friday Poetry Series. It is about both hope and hopelessness, about a love story that's just about to begin.

You assured me that you love
Can I rest assured that you’ll be here tomorrow?
I’m not questioning the love you have for me
I just wanna know how much of the journey you’ll go

I may be a pessimist
That’s because I know what I’ve seen
Romance starts with so many promises
But I’ve seen forever happen so soon

I know how badly you wanna promise me more
That’s because my warmth feels like never before
You said my smile opens up your pores
If you see me frown, will you remain in this love galore?

When I can’t any longer afford the glamour
Will this love story endure?

When I become messy will you remain pure?
When I catch a cold in fear will you be my cure?

After writing all poems I can write
Will you read the old poems that I have?
After my hair turns gray and my voice becomes course
Will you listen to me sing?

How much longer are we gonna stay together?

Wishing aspirants well in our JCR elections tomorrow

I call on the electoral commission to ensure a seamless election exercise, aspirants to enable peace to reign, and supporters of the various aspirants to accept that this is an election to unite us yet again and not divide us.

Letter to Paradise

The theme of this poem is love. In very simple terms, it extols a woman, her beauty and virtues.
