The great guest is coming
A guest that comes to fill our hearts with faith and our homes with love.
Beautify our streets with the bright feathers of angels and fills our breath with the fragrance of Jannah.
Rid our bellies of toxins and fill our spirits with joy.
Yes, here comes Ramadan.
Her dawns are filled with gobbles and gulps and so much hope.
Her days are packed with silence and not a single act of violence.
In the evenings, even ants gather to marvel at the unity She breeds.
The streams of tears in her nights could flood the sea.
Here comes that awaited Guest.
She comes slowly and majestically but is quick to leave.
In her serenity, the voice of Quran reciters hit different.
The Call to Prayer sounds like it’s coming directly from your heart
Oh Yaa Ramadan
I long for your coming
For my broken heart needs your love and light
And my weakened soul craves your enlightenment
Come quick and stay long.
